Hi all, Lauren here. This May, with a step of faith, I will be transitioning to full-time christian missionary work in Guatemala. After being blessed to visit multiple times over the last year, I had a pull on my heart to help somehow after seeing there is a dire need for helping hands in many places... After prayer for these people and my mind racing with helpful ideas, most seeming out of reach, God took the lead and opened doors. I was chatting with a close friend of mine and she had contacts for missionaries that are doing God's work there. To help out was within my reach and not to mention RIGHT up my alley. I have a great sense of comfort, although this season will be full of unknowns and testing of many parts of me entering full time servanthood. Remaining in God's presence will guide me each day.
WHAT WORK AM I DOING?
I will be serving at an Orphanage for babies- toddlers called Casa Del Destino, I will be leading bible study for the little ones and showing them the love that they need through quality time and being someone they can rely on to show up for them. The Lord calls on us to care for orphans and I am grateful to be able to. JAMES 1:27
I will also be serving at Ministerios Ahava, a small plot of land that has an after school program for children in a small village called Pastores. These children do not have the proper support for their education and Ahava provides a safe and enriching environment for them. I get the opportunity to start a garden for them and raise chickens all while teaching them how to do so. I'm hopeful to plant seeds that grow beyond the garden but rather in the children's life long path with Jesus. Other projects are under way as well. I will be serving for potentially their whole rainy season, May-November and waiting on God's guidance for whats in store after that.
